Health Equity

At Fidelis Care, we believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a healthy life. It’s our mission to ensure New Yorkers have access to high-quality healthcare, so they can get the care they need when they need it.

But many other factors contribute to an individual’s health and wellness beyond access to healthcare. Socioeconomic conditions can influence health risks and outcomes. Poverty, food insecurity, housing instability, education, employment, access to transportation and other circumstances contribute to health disparities among underserved and vulnerable populations.

Fidelis Care is committed to removing those barriers to health to improve access, quality, and affordability. It is an ongoing process that requires working together with our members, providers, and community-based organizations to support fair and just opportunities to equal access to healthcare.

Key partnerships

Wellness commitment to Buffalo Urban League

To nurture social entrepreneurship, facilitate wellness, and strengthen organizations focused on Black, Indigenous and People of Color in Buffalo’s East Side, Fidelis Care and the Centene Foundation donated $1.1 million to the Buffalo Urban League (BUL) to help establish its new headquarters and develop a Wellness and Entrepreneurial Center.

In addition, Fidelis Care partners with BUL through community programs and at events held in the city focused on health, family support and stabilization services, foster care, adoption, education, job training, employment, scholarships, and more.

Mental health alliance with The Jed Foundation

As part of our behavioral health efforts, Fidelis Care and the Centene Foundation awarded $1.1 million to The Jed Foundation (JED) to protect the mental health of New York State’s youth.

Through the funding, JED will expand its current services, providing at least five youth-serving community-based organizations (CBOs) with consultation or strategic planning services, including expert guidance, educational workshops, and training programs, equipping young people with life skills and connecting them to mental healthcare when they are in distress.

National Pharmacy Week: Dedication, Compassion, and Expertise
10/15/2025 • Posted by Andrea Papia, PharmD, Fidelis Care Senior Manager, Clinical Pharmacy Services in In The Community

pharmacy week

National Pharmacy Week is a time to recognize the vital role pharmacists play in healthcare. We are educators, advocates, and problem-solvers. We are part of the care team, and we are committed to improving members’ lives.

As we celebrate the week, I’m proud to reflect on my journey as a pharmacist and the incredible work being done by the Fidelis Care pharmacy team to support our members.

My career at Fidelis Care has been a dynamic and rewarding path. I began as a pharmacist on our HealthierLife Health and Recovery Plan (HARP) team, where I gained firsthand experience supporting members with complex behavioral health needs. From there, I transitioned into Utilization Management, where I had the opportunity to grow as a people leader, an experience that deepened my appreciation for team collaboration and the importance of mentorship. Today, I serve as the Senior Manager of Clinical Pharmacy Services for the Medicare Pharmacy team, with a primary focus on quality.

Providing high-quality care has always been at the heart of my work. Whether it’s reviewing medication regimens, collaborating with providers, or advocating for member needs, our goal is simple: ensure every individual receives the care and support they deserve. My team works tirelessly with providers and members to close gaps in care, promote medication adherence, improve outcomes, and make sure no one falls through the cracks.

I’m incredibly proud of the pharmacy team at Fidelis Care. Every interaction with members is guided by empathy, respect, and a genuine desire to help. We understand that behind every prescription is a person with unique needs, and we take that responsibility seriously.

Our pharmacists’ dedication, compassion, and clinical expertise make a real difference in the lives of our members every day. We also benefit from strong partnerships across the organization, with colleagues from various disciplines working together to deliver integrated, person-centered care.

To my fellow pharmacists, thank you for your unwavering commitment to our profession and those we serve.
