Hispanic Heritage Month is a time of reflection, celebration, and unity. For me, it is deeply personal, a reminder of the strength, resilience, and cultural pride that defines our community. It is also a call to action to honor our heritage not only with words, but through efforts that uplift the health and well-being of Hispanic families across New York and beyond. The Hispanic community carries a powerful legacy of hard work, faith, and family. Yet, despite our many strengths, we continue to face significant health challenges. Chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity are disproportionately prevalent among Hispanic populations.

  Fidelis Care opened its 2025 Veggies to Go produce giveaway season by distributing more than 150 bags of fresh fruits and vegetables at events hosted by Genesee ACE Employment in Batavia on March 15 and the Watertown YMCA on March 26. Veggies to Go addresses nutrition and food insecurity in urban and rural communities across New York State. “Since starting the Veggies to Go program in 2022, Fidelis Care has distributed more than 80,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables statewide,” said Shannon Lombardo, Fidelis Care Director of Sales and Marketing. “Nutrition is healthcare and getting fresh produce into the hands
