September 8 is National Grandparents Day. Here are 4 healthy and fun ways to spend the day with the grandparents in your family:
Go for a walk
Take a stroll in the neighborhood, or visit a nearby park or hiking trail. Exercise is a mood booster and helps improve the health of the whole family, according to the U.S. National Library of Medicine.

Cook a meal
Try making a family recipe that has plenty of vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. If you can, avoid refined grains, too much salt, or added sugar. Eating right helps keep diseases at bay and maintain a healthy weight, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Don’t rush
Be sure not to plan too many activities. Give yourself plenty of time to spend as a family. Being happy and having less stress has been linked to better heart health, according to the American Psychological Association.
Relax
Relaxing together without a plan is healthy, too. Spending leisurely time together can help the whole family bond and feel happier, according to the American College of Pediatricians.
