Essential Plan 200-250 Coverage Has Ended

Because of changes in federal rules, Essential Plan 200-250 ended on June 30, 2026. If your household income was between 200% and 250% of the federal poverty level, you were affected by this change. NY State of Health offered a Special Enrollment Period for affected members. The Special Enrollment Period for Essential Plan 200-250 members ended on August 30.

Can I still get new coverage after August 30?

If you are eligible for Medicaid Managed Care or another Essential Plan, you may be able to enroll in one of those plans. Apply to enroll by the 15^th of the month to have coverage start the following month.

If you are eligible for a Qualified Health Plan (“Marketplace plans”), you will have to enroll during the next Open Enrollment period for coverage in 2027. The 2027 Open Enrollment period runs from November 1 – December 15. If you have a qualifying life event, you may be eligible for another Special Enrollment Period.
