Para celebrar el Mes Nacional de la Salud de las Minorías en este mes de Abril, Fidelis Care está concientizando sobre las desigualdades en materia de salud en las minorías. De acuerdo con los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC, por sus siglas en inglés), los grupos minoritarios tienen más probabilidad de tener enfermedades crónicas como diabetes, enfermedades cardíacas y obesidad.

Fidelis Care Awards The Birthing Place Foundation with Maternal Health Grant In Recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Day Fidelis Care awarded a maternal health grant to The Birthing Place Foundation in the Bronx, NY in recognition of Maternal Health Awareness Day. The grant will support The Birthing Place Foundation’s ongoing efforts in maternal health – particularly to help underserved, lower-income women and their families. The Fidelis Care grant will support The Birthing Place’s Familia Flourish: Breastfeeding and Beyond (FFBB) program, which aims to improve mental health outcomes for postpartum parents, while providing educational and career opportunities for BIPOC birth professionals. Every third Monday of January, we celebrate Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day to honor a monumental leader who fought for justice and equality. Dr. King strived to make sure everyone, no matter their background, has the same opportunities in life. This included having access to quality healthcare, which he believed was one of the most important ways to achieve fairness.   The Fidelis Care ‘Veggies to Go’ program distributed 1,895 bags of healthy food to individuals and families in need during its 2024 season. That adds up to a total nearly 80,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables given away since the program began in 2022. Veggies to Go addresses nutrition and food insecurity in urban and rural communities across New York State. “Nutrition is healthcare,” said Fidelis Care Sales and Marketing Director Shannon Lombardo. “We know that one bag of fresh fruits and vegetables is not going to solve a family’s food insecurity.
