Open up that medicine cabinet. If you see any unused or expired medications, you could be missing out on the chance to prevent the misuse and abuse of prescription drugs. Properly disposing of the drugs you haven't used reduces the risk the pills could be stolen, misused, or thrown out in a way that could harm the environment.

Chemical dependency is another term for substance abuse and substance dependency. In addition to the abuse of alcohol or illegal drugs, it also refers to the abuse of medications prescribed for pain or other chronic conditions.
