2024-2025 Fidelis Care Maternal Health Grant Program Recipients

Birthing Place Foundation – Bronx County (Maternal Health Awareness Day awardee)

The Birthing Place Foundation in the Bronx supports the maternal healthcare of underserved, lower-income women and their families. The Fidelis Care grant will support The Birthing Place’s Familia Flourish: Breastfeeding and Beyond (FFBB) program, which aims to improve mental health outcomes for postpartum parents, while providing educational and career opportunities for BIPOC birth professionals. 

Caribbean Women’s Health Association – Kings County

• Who they are: The Caribbean Women’s Health Association provides high quality, comprehensive, culturally appropriate health, immigration, and social support services to its diverse constituency.
• What the grant supports: Cuturally tailored breastfeeding and safe sleep workshops facilitated by a Haitian Creole-speaking Certified Lactation Consultant.

EPIC – Every Person Influences Children – Erie County

• Who they are: EPIC provides a series of helpful parenting programs designed to support families from birth through the teenage years. EPIC’s vision is that every child has a strong start and a promising future.
• What the grant supports: The Ready, Set, Parent! program which addresses prenatal disparities through parenting classes and connecting individuals to postpartum care resources.

Expecting Relief - Kings County

• Who they are: Expecting Relief provides equitable access to nutrition, essentials, and health through distribution, education, and advocacy. They are focused on addressing racial disparities.
• What the grant supports: Expansion of its culturally sensitive doula services to underserved communities, offering prenatal education and mental health support.

Healthy Community Alliance – Cattaraugus County

• Who they are: Healthy Community Alliance (HCA) is committed to health promotion, disease prevention, and building quality of life in rural communities through inclusive partnerships.
• What the grant supports: Increased postpartum interventions for high-need and low-income individuals and families through events that include health education, postpartum care supplies, and appointment setting.

Mosaic of the Southern Tier - Chemung County

• Who they are: Mosaic of the Southern Tier provides information, cost-free services, and practical support to women and families experiencing a pregnancy situation.
• What the grant supports: Expansion of its reach into Schuyler County through the establishment of a satellite office in Watkins Glen.

• Who they are: Oswego County Opportunities is a private, nonprofit human service agency serving 15,000 people each year through more than 50 programs.
• What the grant supports: Postpartum recovery kits, group education sessions, breastfeeding education, home-delivered meals to new mothers, and home visit support through community health workers.

• Who they are: Seven Valleys Health Coalition builds local solutions and collaborative actions that advance the health and well-being of the Cortland community.
• What the grant supports: Expansion of a birth and postpartum doula program to improve maternal and child health outcomes. Providing birth education classes, distributing baby supplies, and offering comprehensive outreach to reduce isolation.

Westchester Community Health Center – Westchester County

• Who they are: Westchester Community Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center that has served Westchester County for over 51 years. The center provides preventive, specialized, behavioral, and support services for everyone, regardless of their ability to pay.
• What the grant supports: Expanded prenatal services and educational workshops to ensure healthy pregnancies.
