Lunar New Year arrives with the vibrant energy of the Year of the Horse. Beginning on February 17, 2026, it will be celebrated across Asian communities around the world. This festival marks a meaningful moment of renewal as people travel great distances to reunite with their families and honor long-standing traditions. They share hopes that the year ahead will be fulfilling and prosperous.
The Year of Horse is associated with independence, energy, and sincere and renewed confidence. These are qualities I deeply connect with and strive to embody in my personal life and professional work. They serve as daily reminders to move forward with purpose and integrity.
The Lunar New Year has always been more than a holiday to me. It is a time of reflection, gratitude, and renewal. Growing up, this season brought families together from near and far. Homemade traditional dishes were prepared and shared around the table, and heartfelt conversations brought us back to the cherished childhood memories. These moments reminded us of where we came from and reinforced the values that truly bind families together.
Lunar New Year celebrations are rich in symbolism and tradition. Homes are thoroughly cleaned to sweep away bad luck from the past year. Red decorations are proudly displayed to welcome prosperity, joy, and good fortune, serving as powerful symbols of hope and positivity.
I was born and raised in Southern Fujian, China, a region known for its deep-rooted traditions, strong family bonds, and close-knit communities. In Fujian culture, people value hospitality, responsibility, and caring for one another, especially during challenging times. From a young age, I learned that helping others is not an obligation, it is simply part of who we are.
These values continue to guide me today in my role at Fidelis Care, serving the Asian communities across New York City. Many of our members are seniors, immigrants, and families navigating serious health concerns. I understand how overwhelming that can feel, because I have seen it firsthand in my own community. That is why I believe culturally sensitive service, listening patiently, explaining clearly, and building trust is just as important as providing quality coverage.
As we step into the Year of the Horse, I am reminded to keep moving forward with empathy, determination, and heart. I am proud to be part of Fidelis Care and grateful for the opportunity to serve our community in a way that honors both my cultural background and our shared mission.
新年快樂,身體健康,萬事如意!
(Happy New Year, good health, and all the best.)
