Electronic Visit Verification Started January 1 for Home Services
1/29/2021 • Posted by Fidelis Care in Member News

Starting January 1, New York State started using Electronic Visit Verification (EVV) to confirm Personal Care Services (PCS) from a Licensed Home Health Care Agency, and Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Services (CDPAS) are provided.

EVV is a way for your caregiver to use technology — such as a smartphone, tablet, or fob — to report key information about the services given, such as:

  • The date of the visit
  • The times when the visit starts and ends
  • The type of service you receive during the visit
  • The name of the caregiver who provides services during the visit
  • Your name as the person receiving the services
  • The location of the visit (reported either as “home” or “community,” without an address)

If you receive PCS or CDPAS, here are the main things you should know:

  • Your care will not change due to EVV
  • The services you receive will not change
  • The amount of care you receive will not change
  • The location where you receive services will not change
  • Your private information will always be protected, as federal and state laws require

The EVV requirement for Home Health Services from a Certified Home Health Care Agency will start on January 1, 2023.
