Northwell Health Coverage Update for Fidelis Care Members

Fidelis Care is in contract discussions with Northwell Health. We know you may have questions about your care in the meantime. Our teams are here to support you and provide help every step of the way.

At this time, Northwell Health remains in our network through:

  • July 15, 2026, for Fidelis Care’s Medicaid, Child Health Plus, Essential Plan, HARP, MLTC, Medicare (also known as Wellcare By Fidelis Care), and Marketplace (also known as Ambetter from Fidelis Care) plans.
  • June 30, 2026 for Wellcare's Medicare HMO, PPO, and PFFS plans.

Members can continue seeing Northwell providers until the termination date relevant to their plan.

If you’re eligible for continuity of care, we’ll help ensure continued access to your Northwell provider during a transition period.

Our priority is making sure you have access to the care that you need. Our large provider network is full of doctors you know and trust. Use our Find a Doctor tool to find care options near you.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I still see my doctor at Northwell?
Yes. Northwell Health remains in our network until the contract termination dates. You can continue seeing your doctor through the termination date relevant to your plan.
Does this mean I’ll lose access to my doctor or hospital?

We understand how important it is to keep seeing the doctors and hospitals you trust. If an agreement is not reached before the termination date, we’ll be here to guide you through what comes next, such as:

  • Helping you find a new provider
  • Determining whether you qualify to continue seeing your current provider through August 15, 2026, during a transition period
  • Providing directions on how to change your health plan to one that has Northwell in network
    • You can also contact NY State of Health at 1-855-355-5777 for assistance
Can I still go to Northwell hospitals after the termination dates?
Yes. Members can still use Northwell hospitals for emergency services even after the termination dates. Emergency care does not require a contract, so access to emergency services will not be impacted.
What if I have care scheduled with Northwell for six months or a year?

At this time, you can continue to see Northwell providers. If we are unable to reach an agreement to continue our partnership before the termination dates, you may be eligible to continue an ongoing course of treatment for a transition period.

Examples include:

  • Scheduled surgeries, hospital admissions, diagnostic testing, ongoing treatment plans, and maternity care
How long can I continue my care if there is a change?

If you qualify for continuity of care, coverage may continue through August 15, 2026, based on the original termination date of May 15, 2026. After this time, you will need to choose new care providers that participate with Fidelis Care, or contact the New York State of Health (1-855-355-5777) to change to a health plan that has Northwell in network.

  • Pregnant members: Members who are pregnant as of May 15, 2026, may continue care through delivery and postpartum care directly related to the pregnancy

Continuity of care allows the following:

  • Seeing your provider for a serious and complex condition (either acute or chronic), and if the treatment would prevent serious harm
  • Undergoing a course of inpatient treatment
  • Scheduling nonelective surgery
  • Receiving treatment for pregnancy, or receiving postpartum care
  • Receiving treatment for a terminal illness

Will you be sending any information about the negotiations?
If an agreement is reached and Northwell remains in the Fidelis Care network, we will notify you by mail. You can also check this webpage for updates.
Who can I contact if I have further questions?
We’re here to help. Call 1-888-FIDELIS (1-888-343-3547); TTY: 711, and we can answer questions and help you understand next steps.
