Black Maternal Health Week takes place each year from April 11–17. The goal of the observance, which was founded seven years ago by Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc., is to bring visibility to Black maternal health initiatives and build awareness for the health issues that disproportionately impact Black women during pregnancy, childbirth, and in the months after giving birth.

Food insecurity impacts about one in ten households in New York.

The grants will assist community-based organizations that play a vital role in ensuring safe pregnancies and healthy babies – particularly for underserved, lower-income women and their families across New York.

Fidelis Care, a statewide health plan with more than 2.5 million members in New York State and a wholly owned subsidiary of Centene Corporation, has announced that 501(c)(3) organizations in the state offering programs that support maternal health and wellness are encouraged to apply for grants from the health plan through 5 PM EDT on October 20, 2023 at fideliscare.org/maternal-grant.
