In observance of National Minority Health Month this April, Fidelis Care is raising awareness about the health disparities facing minorities. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), minority groups are more likely to have chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease, and obesity.

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (April 9, 2025) Fidelis Care, a statewide health plan with more than 2.4 million members in New York State and a Centene Corporation company, is pleased to highlight the updated income guidelines for the Essential Plan through NY State of Health, adjusted to reflect changes in the federal poverty level. The federal poverty level determines income eligibility for public health insurance programs in New York State, including the Essential Plan. The Essential Plan aims to bridge the gap for those who may not qualify for Medicaid Managed Care but still need access to quality, low-cost health insurance.

Each November is Prematurity Awareness Month. A premature birth is a baby born before 37 weeks gestation. In the U.S., about one in 10 births are premature. Babies that are born preterm can face serious health problems, so maternal healthcare is important to reduce risk and help babies be the healthiest they can be because there is no single cause of preterm birth.

NY State of Health has announced upcoming changes to the Essential Plan 5, effective July 1, 2026. To help current enrollees prepare, Fidelis Care members have started receiving official notifications from the state outlining these updates.

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY (October 24, 2025) Fidelis Care, a statewide health plan with more than 2.4 million members in New York State and a Centene Corporation company, has awarded $130,000 in food security grants to 10 providers and community organizations across New York State. The grants aim to fund programs that support innovative programs in food security and Food Is Medicine (FIM) practices. The FIM approach integrates access to nutritious food into healthcare delivery to prevent, manage, or treat diet-related diseases. Food Is Medicine programs are increasingly recognized by healthcare professionals and supported by Fidelis Care as essential to improving health outcomes, lowering healthcare costs, and promoting health equity by addressing nutritional disparities and chronic disease in underserved populations.
