Fidelis Care Provides Nearly 13,000 Coupons for Free Holiday Turkeys to Needy Families
Once again this year, Fidelis Care is providing coupons for free turkeys to help local families have a hearty, healthy holiday meal. Nearly 13,000 coupons are being distributed to agencies, schools, and organizations that partner with Fidelis Care. In turn, the coupons are given to families who benefit from extra support, particularly during the holidays.
Since 2009, Fidelis Care has provided more than 112,000 vouchers for free turkeys, in partnership with nearly 8,500 local organizations, benefiting residents across New York State.
For example, Fidelis Care has worked in close partnership with the New York Police Department’s 34th Precinct to support the Upper Manhattan community. This year, the 34th Precinct distributed the turkey vouchers at Super Foodtown supermarket in Washington Heights, Manhattan. “Thank you to Fidelis Care for partnering with the New York City Police Department for this annual holiday tradition,” said Haydee Pabey, New York City Police Department Detective. “Year after year, we are happy to work with our local communities and be able to distribute turkey vouchers for families in need.”
Fidelis Care also provided turkey vouchers to the Compassion Coalition in Utica, through Bargain Grocer, a sustainable, community-based grocery store that ensures everyone has access to nutritious and affordable food. “As a community-driven, non-profit organization, we are focused on meeting the ever-changing needs of our community by providing access to affordable and healthy food,” said Rachel Daughtry, Director of Agency Relations for Compassion Coalition. “We rely on community partners and are so thankful for Fidelis Care’s Turkey Voucher program that allowed us to distribute turkeys through our Bargain Grocer to families during the holiday season.”
In true holiday spirit, our local communities have graciously allowed Fidelis Care the gift of giving this holiday season.
