The number of new flu cases increased by 10 percent recently, according to the New York State Department of Health. Flu activity in the State has been widespread for seven straight weeks.

 

Do you need a flu shot?

Everyone over the age of 6 months should have a flu shot every year. It is especially important for:

  • Children under 5
  • Seniors over 65
  • People with certain health conditions, including asthma, diabetes, heart disease, lung disease, HIV/AIDS, and cancer
  • Caregivers

 

When should you have a flu shot?

You can have a flu shot any time during flu season. Flu season can last from October to May. Getting your shot earlier in the season gives you more protection.

 

How can you get a flu shot?
