Every year, during the first week of October, we celebrate National Primary Care Week. It’s a time to say “thank you” to the doctors, physician assistants, nurses, and healthcare teams that help keep us healthy every day.
Primary care means the first stop you make when you’re sick, need a checkup, or have questions about your health. These are the doctors who know you best, your family doctor, pediatrician, or nurse practitioner. They help you stay healthy, catch problems early, and guide you when you need more care. It’s not just about treating illness. It’s about keeping you well.
Primary care providers do more than give shots or check your blood pressure. They listen to your concerns, help manage long-term conditions like diabetes or asthma, and connect you with specialists when needed. They also help with mental health, food and housing needs, and other things that affect your well-being.
At Fidelis Care, we believe everyone deserves a strong relationship with a primary care provider. That’s why we work hard to make sure our members can find doctors close to home who understand their needs.
Here’s how you can take part in National Primary Care Week:
- Schedule a checkup if you haven’t had one in a while.
- Update your health records and make sure your doctor has your latest information.
- Thank your doctor or nurse for the care they give.
- Learn more about what your primary care provider can do for you.
- Talk to family and friends about the importance of having a primary care provider.
Primary care is the heart of healthcare. It’s where trust begins, and where better health starts. Let’s celebrate the people who care for us, not just when we’re sick, but all year long.
