Respiratory Illness Season

We are here to help you stay healthy this season and beyond. Knowing what to do and who to call can help you feel your best.

What Is Respiratory Illness Season?

People get sick with the flu, COVID-19, and RSV most often during respiratory illness season. This season usually starts in late fall and ends in early spring.

Respiratory illnesses happen when germs get into the lungs and airways through your eyes, nose, and mouth, and make you sick. Many respiratory illnesses share the same signs. Anyone can get sick, but some people have a higher risk, such as:

  • Infants and children younger than 2
  • Adults age 65 and up
  • Pregnant women
  • People with long-term health problems (like diabetes, heart disease, or asthma)
Visit the CDC’s About Respiratory Illnesses website to learn more.
