Important Changes for Essential Plan 200-250 Members

Because of changes in federal rules, Essential Plan 200-250 will end on June 30, 2026. If your household income is between 200% and 250% of the federal poverty level, you will be affected by this change. You should have received a letter from NY State of Health telling you about this change and the steps you need to take next.

When do I need to enroll by?

You need to choose coverage by June 15, 2026, to have new health insurance July 1, 2026.

Will my costs go up?

Costs can vary depending on the coverage you qualify for next. We can help review your options or you can work directly with NY State of Health. To ensure you are getting the right coverage options, make sure your NY State of Health information is up to date.

What if I have doctor visits or screenings in May and June?

Your Essential Plan 200-250 coverage lasts until June 30, 2026. Continue to go to your doctor appointments and get your medications from your in-network pharmacy. Nothing about your insurance changes until July 1, 2026.

What if I’m pregnant or just had a baby?

You could be eligible for a low-cost option like Medicaid Managed Care or a different Essential Plan based on your pregnancy or giving birth. If NY State of Health is not aware of your pregnancy, we recommend you contact them at 1-855-355-5777 (TTY: 1-800-662-1220).

Can I keep my doctor?

Right now, you can continue to see the same doctors you have been seeing. Once your coverage ends on June 30, 2026, your provider network may be different depending on the coverage you move to. Most of our healthcare providers will accept our Essential Plan, Medicaid, and Ambetter from Fidelis Care Qualified Health Plan members. To check:

What if I’m a Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) enrollee?

Due to federal changes, you may no longer be eligible for Essential Plan programs. Depending on your income or on whether you are pregnant, you may be eligible for Medicaid.
